same lake different country....

Yip the time came Weds to say our goodbyes to Peru and venture into Bolivia. So off The Famous Five (Ben, Naomi, Suzie and us 2) went. Rather than the normal tourist bus that goes at 6am we had a chat with a taxi driver and cut a deal with him to drop us to the border ( for about about the same price as the bus would have been plus but more comfort and only half the time!)
The border crossing
This was always gogin to be a concern for me as when my Passport was stolen so was my "Tourist Card" (document Immigration use to control you entering and leaving the country!). When we arrived at the border things looked great as no guards so I walked through tyo Bolivia while the others got their Peru "Exit Stamps" on their Cards and Passports.
Feeling like "The Peru One" I walked into The Bolivia Office to get my 30 day Visa and things went Pearshaped. The geeser there refused to let me in coz I had no Exit Stamp from Peru. So off I trouped back into Peru and "had a chat with the Offical in the Immigration Office. As predicted he gave the offical line that I need the Touist CArd, even upon me explaining the situation and showing him the Police Report.
As had been explained to me by the Irish Consulate the decision is up to the Offical, basically I had to pay him S25 ($8) to write a new Card (have heard stories of people hasving to bribe with up to $200, so reckon got off lightly!
BAck i went into Bolivia and got my entry for there (Bolivian Offical wanted to know how much I had to pay- obviously knows the scene!)
From the border it was an 8k taxit to our Chill out town called Copacobana- (yip ye all know the song!). BAsically relaxed here for 2 days, Im talking long lie ins and no strenuous actions
Gotta fly as off to Capital City now, bus waiting..........
