around and about in Havana

well guess better start telling all about this place

As i said the last time it like stepping back about 40 years. All the builings look ancient and painting buildings doesnt seem to be the done thing - well not in last 20 years anyway I´d guess

Buts it not just the buildings, the car are ancient aswell, they must be fab mechanics to keep them on the road, Im talking everything from those giant classic old American cars from the 60 movies to Ladas - old models by the way! But its gets people from A to B

Speaking of which they have the biggest busses I´ve ever seen, they take approx 300 people and are so big that they are really a lorry pulling a trailer. Pretty sure no ¨Safety Council¨would allow them in any other country!

People spend a lot of time out on the streets, setting up shop etc and selling everything and anything out their doors, the shops themselves are stange- loads of display space but very little on show! Would be guessing that in better economic times these stores would be full

The streets are dangerous too, but in a good way........... dangerous in that u could get hit with either a baseball or football, every corner u turn theirs another game!

Well thats a little insight into the Capital city, time to move on now. Heading for the beachs for a few days to recharge the batteries after all the walking around sightseeing!

Mick,

Havana sounds very fascinating! I love the idea of kids out playing baseball in the streets. Sounds like something that used to occur here in the States too, but like you said about 40 years ago. I hope you didn't ride any of those buses - yikes! Well, enjoy it all for me! As an American, I'll likely never be able to go (legally that is). :-)
